Bring On The LIGHT!
I absolutely love December 21! What?! Why in the world would you love the shortest and darkest day of the year in the northern hemisphere?! Because it represents the turning of the corner, when the north side of the earth begins is slow transitionary tilt back toward the sun, and we begin to experience more and more light with each day for the next 6 months!
We know that in just 4 days we celebrate Christmas Day, the DAY that Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, was born…born to live, die, be buried and raised to life for us! Though we know that Jesus was not born on December 25, and that this date was set centuries later as the remembrance date, I think it is significant that it is located at the darkest time of the year (at least in the northern hemisphere!). It reminds us that we are in desperate need of light, and not just any light…His light, in our lives every day!
The Light of His Truth, the Light of His Presence, the Light of His Peace and Joy, etc. In my journal this morning I wrote the following, looking ahead with hope and encouragement to 2019. I hope that it blesses and encourages you, as it did me, this morning.
Yay! We made it to the shortest and darkest day of the year! TODAY we turn the corner and start getting lighter and lighter again! Thank You, Lord! Bring on the Light…in more ways than one!
My Prayers for 2019
