Shortly after I got my first Nord Piano when I was on staff at Crossover Church, I remember simply noodling the melody for the A section one day in my office. After I fleshed it out, the B section came using a common tone to transition to the new key and an entire different theme. Then somehow the two melodies were woven back together with the return to the original theme. I titled this song Grace and Truth, based on John 1:14 that states that Jesus Christ was the perfect balance of grace and truth, and always simultaneously. As humans, we are easily pushed to one side or the other very often, but both grace and truth are always necessary and they are in dynamic tension in this fallen world. This song is meant to reflect the beauty of how they can and must be woven together in the expression of our lives as Christ followers.
